Mouth Gets Ahead Of Itself by Linda Vuorenvirta

Mouth Gets Ahead Of Itself

Sometimes what comes out of my mouth makes me have kind of an out of body experience.

It’s like I’m listening to myself saying some words, but I refuse to believe that it’s actually me saying them. Because of this, I disassociate mentally from the mouth that’s moving. It only lasts a second, then I’m hit with the reality that it WAS me speaking. I’ve tried to represent that visually with this illustration.

The title of this piece refers to the dissociation that I feel from my mouth.
